Pack a Bag { B a r c e l o n a }

Beautiful Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia and heaven on earth for designers and artists alike. It is high on everyone's list of favorite European cities and it easily lands on top of ours! This wonderfully eccentric city, full of whimsical art and architecture, is so rich in history and life that we're convinced a second trip will be planned in the near future. There is so much to see and we couldn't possibly fit everything into one blog post, but here are some of the highlights.

Stepping into our hotel was an overwhelming explosion of design at every turn. We were surrounded by floor to ceiling library shelves, delicious velvet sofas, and vibrant color schemes. It was definitely a nice first impression of this artsy city.

Park Güell

Park Güell, designed by Antonio Gaudí, is the most famous park in Barcelona and it left us speechless! From the stunning views to the beautiful mosaic designs, you have to explore every inch of this place!

Gaudí pioneered the technique of designing mosaics by using chuncks of broken ceramic shards to create gorgeous patterns. Running your hands through the tile made us truly appreciate the craftsmanship that went into each one. This city would not be the same without his trademark stamp and you can't help but fall in love with his work.

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló, in the heart of Barcelona's Gracia district, was unbelievable! The interior is mind blowing and it became one of our favorite attractions on the trip. There's an interactive tour of the entire house, complete with virtual furniture plans, which, of course, had us exploding with excitement! It cannot be missed!

Sagrada Familia

The Sagrada Familia literally took our breath away! One of the most incredible churches in the world and it's not even finished yet! The interior columns make you feel like you're walking through a forest and the whole experience can only be described as otherworldly.

We took a trip to the top of the towers and decided to walk down the 400 steps, which included a narrow spiral staircase. Did we mention we're claustrophobic? Quite the mental challenge, but worth the struggle!

Those Barcelona balconies! There is so much beauty in this city, whether it dances in front of you or the many hidden gems to explore, it is truly one of a kind! Our designer hearts are full and we can't wait to go back!
